GHALLANAI: Elders of the Safi tribe and representatives of the Political Administration at a Jirga hereon Friday reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen cooperation between the tribesmen and government to eliminate militancy from the Mohmand Agency.
Addressing a jirga held at Ghallanai, Mohmand Agency Headquarters, the Assistant Political agent Haseebur Rehman Khalil and tehsildar of Safi tehsil, Meraj Khan lauded the people of the area for their firm determination to restore peace in their respective areas.
Among others the jirga was largely attended by elders of the four main tribes of the Safi tehsil including Malik Saadullah Khan, Malik Ayaz Safi, Malik Khan Wali, Malik Ibrahim, Malik Dawa Khan Chinari, Malik Azeem Qandahari and Malik Rehman Gul.
Speaking on the occasion the tribal elders recommended extending jirgas on village level to find solutions to the problems. They also informed the representatives of the political administration to increase the frequency of foot patrol by tribesmen in their respective areas to keep an eye on the movements of suspected people. They pledged to inform the political administration if any unusual or suspected elements were found in their respective areas.
