KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah has announced ex gratia payment of Rs 10 million for the survivors of famed Qawwal Amjad Sabri.
Speaking in the Sindh Assembly, he announced to provide a job to widow of the late Sabri and bear expenses of his children’s education. The announcement has come in a couple of days after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif declared to give Rs 10 million to the bereaved family.
The chief minister said that the paramilitary forces were given complete authority to take action against miscreants in Karachi. In Sindh’s capital, security situation was all right before the last two incidents that include Sabri’s killing and abduction of Barrister Owais Ali Shah, son of Chief Justice of Sindh High Court Justice Sajjad Ali Shah.
Talking about the latest killing in Karachi, the chief minister said that the law enforcement agencies have obtained leads in Sabri’s killing. Three different teams have been formed and tasked with immediate recovery of Barrister Shah and tracing down miscreants involved in Sabri’s killing, he said, adding that the teams would report to him directly.
Qaim further recalled that Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif had stated that the terrorists were likely to take shelter in Karachi after the Zarb-e-Azb military operation in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas. The military operation was launched in July 2014 against the militant outfits in the Tribal Areas.
Terror attacks dropped to a six-year-low since 2008 after the launch of the military operation. Over 3,500 terrorists have been killed in the operation so far.
